Sunnova is planning $1 billion IPO – “Sunnova Energy Corp, which finances and manages residential solar and storage systems across the United States, is planning a stock market flotation that could value the company at more than $1 billion, including debt, people familiar with the matter said.” Source: Reuters

 

EEI recognizes AES Lawai plant –  For their work in the creation of the world’s largest solar+storage plant to date, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative’s Lawai plant, AES Distributed Energy has been awarded the Edison Electric Institute’s 2019 Edison award. The award is widely considered to be the electric power industry’s most prestigious honor. The project is comprised of a 28 MW solar system, coupled with a 20 MW, five-hour duration energy storage system which helps the island generate 55% of its power from renewable sources. 200,000 signatures collected for climate debate – Right now, activists are gathering outside of DNC headquarters in Washington, DC to demand the Democratic party reverse its stance against hosting a primary debate on the climate crisis. During the protest they will be delivering more than 200,000 petition signatures from people across the country in support of a climate debate. Source: Greenpeace

 

Walmart, US Solar announce 36 project, 36 MW deal – In yet another corporate renewable procurement deal, Walmart, a leader in the corporate renewable clubhouse, has an agreement with US Solar to subscribe to 36 of US Solar’s 1 MW community solar gardens located throughout the state of Minnesota. While the fleet of gardens is not yet complete, all will be operational by the first half of 2020. Source: US Solar

Dearborn Homes development goes solar – Chicago’s Dearborn Homes public housing development, which features over 660 residential units, will soon be powered by a 750 kW solar installation. The installation is set to be handled by VLV Development, as a part of The Future Energy Jobs Act. The project is being supported financially by a $4 million grant that ComEd received from the U.S. Department of Energy to design and deploy solar and battery storage technology in a microgrid.
