The Nevada utility is accepting proposals for solar projects, as well as energy storage, wind, and other forms of renewables.

First Solar’s second supply deal in as many days will see the company expand its partnership with Silicon Ranch with a commitment four times greater than all previous supply deals between the two combined.

The project, owned and operated by Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions, was selected as part of the competitive bidding process established by 2017’s solar legislation in North Carolina.

US researchers have proposed the use of hydraulically fractured oil and gas wells to store renewable energy via compressed natural gas, with the levelized cost of storage potentially coming in at $70/MWh and $270/MWh. While New York has become a national solar leader, projects of this size are unprecedented in the Empire State.

The installation will be the largest in the state’s history by far, representing more than 10 times the capacity that the state has installed to date.

The Gaskell West 2 and 3 project is located in Kern County, California, and is fully contracted holding five long-term power purchase agreements with cities and utilities in California.
