Electric company pushing electric school buses in Virginia, high speed car charging network in Iowa
Power utilities are continuing a nationwide push for vehicle electrification to grow flat since ~2007 electricity demand, with Dominion Energy now aiming for a 100% electric school bus replacement program, starting with 50 by the end of 2020 in Virginia, along with Mid American pushing for 15 high speed car charging locations across the Iowa utility’s service area.
Retail electric providers across the country are ditching fossil fuels
Three different retail electricity providers have announced new programs to provide customers the option to buy 100% renewably sourced electricity, with one of the three even coming at no additional cost.
sPower begins to deliver on $25 million promise

Ten days left to register for 500 MW of wind and solar power in Virginia
Dominion Energy is seeking 500 MWac of solar power and onshore wind, the second equally-sized installment of its rolling 3 GW clean energy procurement. The utility wants projects between 5 and 500 MWac, with an intent to bid due on August 15.
Amazon announces plans for 45 MW of solar
The e-commerce group will invest an undisclosed sum in a 45 MW solar array in the U.S. state of Virginia. It also plans to invest in a 23.2 MW wind farm in Ireland.
