States could save consumers billions with solar, by requiring transparent utility modeling

Many utilities prepare resource plans using biased modeling choices that disadvantage low-cost solar. With transparent utility modeling, states and intervenors could easily see the bias. And if they also have access to the same model used by the utility, they can fix the errors by running the model themselves.

California regulators propose solar + storage resiliency budget for wildfire-risked residents

The proposed action would allocate unused state funds to establish an equity resiliency budget to provide solar and storage subsidies for state residents in high-wildfire-risk areas.

Solar met 2.7% of U.S. electric demand during the first half of 2019

Marginally higher solar output and lower electricity use allowed the share of solar in the overall mix to rise. California met more than 17% of its demand with solar during the six-month period, and solar + wind met 10.4% of the nation’s demand.
