Got windows? Then photovoltachromics may be for you

Researchers developed a smart solar window tech based on a photovoltachromic device that is able to achieve a high pristine transmittance and to be self-adaptable to control indoor brightness and temperature.

Researchers develop a novel design for agrivoltaics

The design uses metal brackets as mounting structures, conventional solar panels, and a grooved glass plate placed between the solar panels. System costs would be around $847/kW.

CATL claims to have made sodium-ion batteries a commercial reality

Researchers have been keen to make the technology work as it offers a cheaper, more environmentally friendly alternative to lithium-ion products.

Longi claims 25.19% efficiency for p-type TOPCon solar cell

The achievement was confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research and is claimed as a world record for a p-type TOPCon cells.

Mixed financial results for Chinese-based wafer and module makers

Preliminary results for a handful of companies suggest that commodity price rises are having an impact on earnings.

Clean energy requires metals and minerals: Can the U.S. compete?

More mining capacity will be needed to meet demand for metals and minerals for clean energy resources, and the U.S. is behind in the race, says a university researcher.

Solar module prices rose by up to 15% in China, Jinko’s vice president says

JinkoSolar VP Dany Qian said that high demand cannot stop prices from rising for at least the next six months or longer, until sufficient capacity ramps up.

China’s cheap electricity crowds out foreign polysilicon

Imports from South Korea and the U.S. dwindled, year-on-year, ensuring Germany’s Wacker and the Malysian unit of Korean company OCI will supply the bulk of the world’s non-Chinese solar polysilicon this year.

QuantumScape finally unstealths — with breakthrough performance in solid state batteries

After ten secretive years, several hundred million dollars spent, and the efforts of hundreds of scientists and engineers, QuantumScape went public on a video call today with the performance results of its solid-state battery — and its potential impact on the electric vehicle industry.

New process to recover PET and EVA from recycled solar panels

Researchers in China are proposing a new technique to recover polyethylene glycol terephthalate (PET) and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) in solar panels at the end of their lifecycle. The two materials represent around 15% of the total material in a wasted solar cell, with a share of 10% for EVA and 5% for PET, respectively.
