The Tranquility 8 Verde project in Central California will provide electricity to customers of Sacramento’s public utility who participate in its Solar Shares program.
The two projects, named Astoria and Astoria 2, could power 40,000 homes with clean energy from the 175 MW they produce.
Under the terms of the agreement, expected to close in the fourth quarter, Recurrent Energy will lease the land from Landmark for four utility-scale solar PV projects.
Canadian Solar announced two big wins this week for its California based subsidiary Recurrent Energy. The company announced commercial operation on its 78 MWp Barren Ridge Project, as well as the signing of a new PPA with community program MCE.
The huge utility-scale site was developed by Canadian Solar subsidiary Recurrent Energy and is majority owned by U.S. utility Southern Power, representing a rare new PV development of this scale in the U.S. as the trend shifts away from such large solar constructions.
Canadian Solar predicts that Recurrent will complete more than 1 GW of PV projects in the United States this year.
