JinkoSolar sues Waaree Energies for alleged TOPCon patent infringement

JinkoSolar has filed a lawsuit in Texas against Waaree Energies and its US subsidiary for the alleged infringement of one of its n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) patents, marking another move in its aggressive patent defense strategy.

Go with the flow (batteries)

There is a gap in the market for long-duration energy storage (LDES), according to US-based manufacturer ESS Inc. – one which can’t be plugged with lithium-ion chemistry. Hugh McDermott, of ESS Inc. tells pv magazine how he thinks iron flow batteries fit into the energy system of the future, as the company pursues global expansion.

Higher voltage faces greater resistance

Utility-scale solar is set to crank up the voltage, preparing to shift from 1.5 kV to 2 kV on the DC side. It is a move that could redefine PV system design and slash costs, but it won’t happen globally due to vastly different regulations as voltages rise, reports Tristan Rayner.

Deye debuts off-grid inverters for residential PV

The new single-phase off-grid inverters have an AC output power ranging from 3.6 kW to 6 kW, Deye reports. The systems feature a maximum efficiency of 97.6% and a European efficiency rate of 96.5%.

New York could reach 8 GW of flexible electricity demand by 2040, helping balance renewables

Savings due to flexible demand could approach $3 billion per year by 2040.

Bipartisan action on Capitol Hill to protect critical energy credits

Clean energy investment strengthens energy security, creates jobs in their districts and ensures long-term economic stability—and Republican-led states are seeing some of the largest clean energy investments, with hundreds of projects and jobs in their backyards.

RE+ Northeast 2025: Focusing on the new era of American energy dominance

With uncertainty surrounding the effect of changing federal policies on the renewable energy industry, the importance of strong state energy policy was a topic of discussion at this week’s RE+ Northeast.
