Proposal to NOLA City Council for RPS – a coalition of groups and businesses have submitted to the New Orleans City Council a proposal aimed at transforming the current energy system in the city and establishing 100% renewable portfolio standard by 2040. The initiative is the first of it’s kind, as most municipalities do not feature the same level of control over utilities as New Orleans has. 30% of the proposal’s mandate is allocated to local renewable energy generation. Charlottesville VA renewable energy alliance formed – Greenlight Energy, AltEnergy, Columbia Power, Coronal Energy, Apex Clean Energy, Sigora Solar, Sun Tribe Solar, Hexagon Energy and Coulomb have joined together to form the Charlottesville Renewable Energy Alliance. The Alliance aims to advocate for the growth of the renewable energy economy and build cities that embrace sustainable energy, starting in Charlottesville. The coalition is working with Piedmont Virginia Community College to develop a brand new solar and photovoltaic installer program, too. Source: Apex Clean Energy

AEE: medium- and heavy-duty EV fact sheet – Advanced Energy Economy has released a fact sheet for those looking to buy electric busses, delivery truck, tractor-trailer or other medium-to-heavy duty vehicle. The document highlights operational benefits, electrical grid and ratepayer benefits, economic competitiveness and environmental and public health benefits as key advantages of EV adoption. Grasshoper Solar joins SEIA – “Grasshopper Solar, a global developer and asset owner headquartered in Canada, announced it has joined the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry. Grasshopper’s premium membership – at the ‘Gigawatt’ level – will advance the company’s expansion efforts within the burgeoning U.S. solar market. “With proven expertise in the development and management of solar power assets, we are poised to capitalize on the robust market opportunity in the U.S.,” said Jonathan Persaud, Chief Development Officer at Grasshopper Solar. “We anticipate year over year increases in our U.S. asset base, as we pursue dual strategies of growth through acquisition and greenfield development.” Source: Grasshopper Solar

Pegasus acquires Plus Minus Power – “Pegasus Group Holdings announced the acquisition of Plus Minus Power, a leader in renewable energy operations. Plus Minus Power provides a range of services that create, manage, maintain and monetize products that focus on reducing grid dependency and maximizing renewable energy self-consumption. Plus Minus Power is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pegasus Group Holdings. Dan Briggs, President and CEO of Plus Minus Power, has now taken on the additional position of President and CEO of Pegasus Group Holdings. The acquisition of Plus Minus Power will allow Pegasus Group Holdings to increase their operational capabilities as they endeavor to build the largest solar powered data center in the United States.” Source: Pegasus Group Holdings
