As the third-most populous state in the United States and the southernmost state besides Hawaii, Florida has a tremendous potential for solar. So far that potential has been largely stymied due to policy barriers including high taxes, but that appears to be changing.
In the following podcast, EnergyWakeup host Yann Brandt talks with Florida State Senator Jeff Brandes about Amendment 4/Senate Bill 90, which he championed through the legislature. If signed by the governor, this bill will provide a commercial and tangible property tax exemption for PV systems, and thus greatly improve the economics of customer-sited solar.
