Dominion plans 16 GW of solar for Virginia by 2035
Under the utility’s latest IRP, Dominion plans to procure 16 GW of solar, 2.7 GW of storage and 5.1 GW of offshore wind in the next 15 years. Kicking off these new plans comes a request for proposals of 1 GW of solar or wind and 250 MW of energy storage.

South Carolina regulators about-face, reverse earlier decision on Dominion PURPA rates
A month after deciding upon the rates Dominion Energy will use to compensate PURPA customers, the state’s Public Service Commission has reversed the decision — raising the rates and laying the groundwork for a successful solar compensation structure.

Power utilities are continuing a nationwide push for vehicle electrification to grow flat since ~2007 electricity demand, with Dominion Energy now aiming for a 100% electric school bus replacement program, starting with 50 by the end of 2020 in Virginia, along with Mid American pushing for 15 high speed car charging locations across the Iowa utility’s service area.
