pv magazine has put together an independent jury to produce a ranking of the most exciting pv manufacturing technologies, and to select the most innovative and impactful developments for recognition through an award.

Entries are open from now until 17th March 2017. Check the feature page for full details on how to enter.

Last year, the award was shared between Meyer Burger for their diamond wire platform, and Eternal Sun for their combined climate chamber and solar simulator. DSM’s anti soiling coating received a special ‘Technology to Watch’ award.

“Winning the 2016 award symbolized the recognition of the industry for our technology and our company,” said Florian van Rijn van Alkemade, CEO at Eternal Sun. “Being a part of Technology Highlights proves to us that we are working on equipment and services that are innovative and leading, and shows us that we are on the right track.”

Fellow winners Meyer Burger also saw the award as a confirmation of their commitment to advancing the industry: “The product development team at Meyer Burger was very pleased to have their DW288 Series 3 saw, which has now been very successfully launched in the PV market, recognized with such a prestigious award,” said CIO Dirk Habermann. “Being selected by a jury of solar industry experts was an honor which clearly confirmed our continued determination to further advance photovoltaic technologies.”

pv magazine’s feature looks to underline the importance of technology and innovation to the industry, rewarding those companies which are at the forefront. “Technical innovation is the driver behind the consistent growth of solar energy as an important part of the future global energy mix,” continues Meyer Burger’s Habermann. “This pushes us to continually strengthen our research and development with the clear goal of further lowering production costs of our customers along the entire PV manufacturing chain.”
