Single axis trackers go to court

NEXTracker has sued Sunlink for infringing on a patent for a balanced solar tracker clamp, and a separate patent describing the broader support system of a single axis tracker.

Bifacial gets the big money

LONGi bifacial solar modules were included as part of a fully-financed 224 MWdc solar project in Georgia, with NEXTracker suggesting it’s a first for the technology in the United States on a large-scale financed project, with 750 MW already following in their book of business.

Supersized solar plus storage coming to California

In October, California regulators proposed allowing DC-coupled solar plus storage systems to be compensated via net metering for electricity stored in their batteries. This came after NEXTracker’s NX Flow system was verified by UL as charging only from solar power.

The solar plus storage must flow

Ideal Energy has installed a single-axis tracker, 1.1 MW DC solar plant with NexTracker’s largest flow battery project to date: a 35 unit, 350 kW / 1.1 MWh Avalon Battery vanadium flow system.

460,000 solar panels on their way in the Imperial Valley

Swinerton has begun work on the 200 MW-DC Mount Signal 2, one of a number of massive solar plants in Southern California’s Imperial Valley.

Solar slowly comes back online in North Carolina

Failures of the electric grid have affected large solar plants after Hurricane Florence, just as they are affecting centralized generation.

SPI 2018: Know before you go! by SunCast

pv magazine USA is announcing its first collaboration with the popular podcast: a discussion of how to prepare for the Solar Power International trade show.

200 MW of solar power energized by 8minutenergy in California

The developer has energized Phase 1 and 2 of its Mount Signal 3 project which it expects to be fully commissioned and online by the end of 2018. The project is the second of three plants at one site which total almost 800 MW of solar power.

Riding the French Express to higher capacity factors

California’s NEXTracker has acquired key IP from French company Optimum Tracker to “fortify” its current offerings, while opening opportunities for further platform growth.

GCL signs a 110 MW solar power contract in Colorado (project layout, hardware included)

GCL’s “Overseas Seeding Initiative” has landed in Brighton, Colorado – dropping in over 330,000 solar panels on single axis trackers.
