Together Solar (www.together.solar) continues to expand their Urban Solar portfolio as they cut the ribbon to commission a large rooftop array on top of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Debre Hail Kedus Gabriel Cathedral in the northeastern part of Washington, DC.
“This installation will help the community here at Debre Hail Kedus Gabriel Cathedral, and is another example of large rooftop solar working in dense urban environments,” said co-founder Hugh Scott. “Part of what we set out to do when we formed Together Solar was to bring solar to areas where it is currently in short supply, such as the densely populated Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. It is great to see this vision become a reality.”
Together Solar is working with businesses, places of worship and other organizations across the DC area to bring more renewable solar energy to the market. “Our unique offering provides owners of large urban rooftops with significant incentives to host a solar facility, even where the owner does not occupy the building,” said co-founder Paul Keene.
Debre Hail Kedus Gabriel Cathedral is excited to begin benefitting from the solar facility. “We decided to partner with Together Solar not only because of the anticipated material benefits for our church that will begin immediately, but also because we liked what Together Solar was doing to help alleviate energy poverty for communities in need,” said Nega Lakew, Chairman of the Board. Together Solar is committed to its charitable work, like the installation of a solar microgrid to bring electricity to a primary school in Chiapas, Mexico, serving over 300 students.
