Steel Tube Institute Committee on Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) Declares 2024 Priorities; Focus to Include Solar

Thanks in part to clean energy policies and incentives, the solar industry is expected to add a record 33 GW of solar capacity by year’s end.

This growth has triggered higher demand for steel from the solar construction market, since steel HSS is frequently used to support solar arrays.

That’s why the Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) Committee for Steel Tube Institute (STI), an organization that brings together key producers in the steel industry to advance the use of steel tubing, has announced plans to expand 2024 priorities to include the use of steel in solar construction, and will launch a new committee to, among other things, establish guidelines for using HSS with solar structures.
