LG Electronics has a strong presence in the U.S. market, with a recent report by online solar marketplace EnergySage putting LG as the largest provider of modules in bids placed by installers on its site, at over 25% of all bids.

The Korean PV manufacturer has also shown leadership in technology, with its NeON 2 module serving as one of the first solar module designs by a top-tier module maker to incorporate copper wire cell interconnection technology, which LG has branded Cello.

At the Solar Power International 2016 trade show in Las Vegas, LG expanded on both of those themes with the introduction of two new modules for the U.S. market, as explored in a video interview with LG Senior Marketing Manager of Solar Joseph Park.

This includes the NeON R, a 365 watt module designed for residential applications, which represents LG’s first foray into the back-contact space. LG has also expanded its NeON 2 series featuring the Cello technology to utility-scale applications, releasing a 400 watt, 72-cell module as well as a bifacial module offering power ratings up to 491 watts.
