WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sol Systems today announced the addition of two senior renewable energy veterans — Elizabeth Weir and Jeff Miller — and the promotion of a rising leader within the industry — Andrew Gilligan. Elizabeth Weir joins as Chief Operating Officer, and Jeffrey Miller as a Senior Director overseeing strategy for onsite solar energy development for corporate and municipal customers. Additionally, Andrew Gilligan has been promoted to Vice President, leading the firm’s team serving energy and sustainability customers.

Together, these staffing changes reflect Sol Systems’ growing solar energy and sustainability work for corporations and municipalities and support the company’s 2019 goal to deliver 350 megawatts (MW) of solar energy asset investment, finance, and development throughout the United States.

As Chief Operating Officer, Liz Weir will focus on organizational development and operational excellence for Sol Systems. Liz comes to Sol Systems with over 15 years of experience in renewable energy development, most recently as Vice President of Law for Apex Energy, where she helped develop strategy and processes for the firm while leading corporate oversight and project-level legal services. During her career, Liz has worked on the development and financing of more one gigawatt of operating renewable energy projects.

“Liz is a seasoned leader with a track record of scaling companies like Sol Systems while preserving company values and culture,” said Yuri Horwitz, CEO of Sol Systems. “We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber to help lead the company to its next phase of growth.”

Jeffrey Miller joins Sol Systems after 10 years at Tesla overseeing the construction and operations of thousands of residential systems, as well as the rapid growth of solar sales within the Mid-Atlantic region from under one MW per year to nearly 200 MW of deployed residential systems.

“Jeff’s proven ability to create industry-leading customer value and high-performing origination teams that deliver exceptional service will boost our ability to build out both our value proposition and success for our customers,” said Andrew Gilligan, Vice President of Development.

Andrew Gilligan himself was recently named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in energy. As one of the company’s longest-tenured employees, Andrew previously led the firm’s investment team, working with financial institutions and strategic investors to acquire and own solar projects. In this role, Andrew led the closings for over $350 million into solar projects and established multiple funding partnerships for commercial, municipal, and utility solar. In his new role as Vice President, he will oversee go-to-market strategy for onsite solar development and finance, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
