Residential energy storage system developer Sunverge Energy has appointed Martin Milani to the role of chief executive officer.

Previously, Milani served as chief operating officer and chief technology officer for Sunverge since December 2016.

John Di Stasio, chairman of the board at Sunverge, said: “Sunverge is entering a new phase, building on past success, driven by the convergence of technology, consumer interests and the rapidly changing energy marketplace.

“This is an opportunity for us to align our organization to both define and respond to this convergence in a time of very exciting change. Martin’s extensive business and software experience makes him the ideal leader at this time in the Company’s growth, guiding us forward to deliver greater functionality and value to a market that has changed considerably since our founding almost ten years ago.”

In his new role, Milani will lead the development of Sunverge’s cloud and edge software for managing distributed energy resources and smart home devices — including energy storage, residential and commercial PV and smart thermostats.

Sunverge platform gives utilities and third parties the option to connect multiple energy storage units, other Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and home energy management systems to operate in concert as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

Earlier this year, Sunverge provided 1,000 of its batteries for what Australian utility AGL tabbed the world’s ‘largest’ virtual power plant.
