Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure Appoints John M. Stanton as President

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Chair of the Board, Greg DiLoreto, PE, P.LS, F.ASCE, announced today the appointment of John M. Stanton, Esq. as President and CEO of the organization, effective January 3, 2017. Bill Bertera, the previous ISI President and CEO, is retiring effective February 1, 2017, and will stay on until then for the transition.

Formerly, Stanton served as the Executive Vice President and Regulatory Counsel for SolarCity in San Mateo, California, the nation’s largest solar energy company, and has also served at the Solar Energy Industries Association, the National Environmental Trust, the US EPA, the National Council of State Legislatures, and as a Deputy Attorney General in the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General.

A noted leader in environmental law, Stanton is also an experienced executive in both public and private sector organizations. His environmental experience has extended to clean air and water issues, hazardous wastes, solar and other clean energy sources, sanitary landfills and wetland protection.

“Mr. Stanton is uniquely qualified to take ISI to the next level of its development and growth,” said DiLoreto. “His experience and entrepreneurial skills along with his substantive grasp of infrastructure and environmental issues fit closely with our growing need for sustainable infrastructure.”

Stanton holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. He has been admitted to the Bar in both New Jersey and the District of Columbia.

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure is a 501 c (3) education and research organization located in Washington, D.C., was founded by the American Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Council of Engineering Companies to promote sustainable infrastructure through a web based tool called Envision. Envision was developed in partnership with the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure, Graduate School of Design, at Harvard University.
