The Next Stage for Solar in North America
Solarplaza Summit Asset Management returns for the 8th time
On 6 and 7 April 2022, Solarplaza will host the 8th consecutive edition of the Solarplaza Summit Asset Management North America in Oakland, and will once again set the stage for solar thought leaders to discuss the performance optimization and future-proofing of operating solar assets.
We’ve come to the next age of solar deployment. Cumulatively, American solar capacity has crossed the 100 GW mark. By the end of Q3, the total number was already registered as high as 113.5 GW (SEIA, 2021). Aggressive forecasts now even put the 2022 installation number as high as 44 GW (S&P Global Market Intelligence, 2021). Growing at a higher level than any other technology, solar has evolved from being a minority player in the energy sector to being the driving force for new generation and employment opportunities. As the overall capacity, plant lifespans and portfolio sizes continue to grow, many of the industry’s well-known issues become magnified, and new challenges arise that need to be met head-on.
Keys to rising to that occasion and thriving as an industry are open knowledge sharing and community building. The Solarplaza Summit Asset Management North America is the premier platform for facilitating these crucial connections between knowledge and network.
The heavy rollout of solar portfolios comes with rising challenges to safeguard value over their lifetimes. Insurability, underperformance, plant health, component selection, repairs & repowering, storage coupling, as well as dealing with increasing amounts of extreme weather conditions are just the tip of the (rapidly melting) iceberg. These challenges are important themes in this year’s conference program. Throughout the sessions of the two-day conference, there will be a focus on value-based decision-making in O&M and asset management, optimization of operations, and minimization of technical and financial risks. This year, another key theme is the facilitation of a holistic and fair transition as an industry, with conversations on societal impact, circularity, supply chains, and diversity & inclusion in the solar industry.
The conference will gather a crowd of over 500 solar industry professionals in decision-making positions with purchasing power. Focusing on the operational phase of solar, the event unites IPPs, utilities, investors, O&M experts, asset managers, solution providers, and manufacturers. With the increasing focus on including asset management considerations in the project development phase, a growing number of developers and EPCs are joining in on the conversation as well. It’ll be the year’s best chance to catch up with your industry peers in person and gain in-depth insights into the key topics that are shaping the solar space.
