Rabobank recently announced that Gregory Hutton has been appointed as the new Regional Head of Project Finance, Americas, based in New York. Mr. Hutton replaces Thomas Emmons, who is leaving a career in banking to pursue other investing activities in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.
Mr. Hutton has been a senior member of Rabobank’s New York Project Finance team since 2012 where he has played an integral role in building the Project Finance business, negotiating, managing and closing many key deals for the bank.
“We are very pleased to appoint Gregory to this lead role. The fact that we are promoting from within showcases the strength of our team and the dedication we have to this thriving part of our business,” said Twan Geurts, Rabobank’s Global Head of Export & Project Finance.
The New York team, founded in 2009 by Mr. Emmons as part of Rabobank’s global Project Finance business, has grown to 12 professionals and $2.5 billion in assets, and Rabobank has consistently ranked among the top banks in renewables project finance in the Americas. Since its founding, the team has committed over $5 billion across over 100 financings worth more than $21 billion, supporting the top wind, solar, biomass, food and agriculture-related project developers in the region. The team has also earned several Project Finance Deal of the Year awards in North America and Latin America.
Prior to joining Rabobank, Mr. Hutton was a senior energy and project finance banker at several institutions, including UniCredit Bank AG, HSH Nordbank AG and Dexia Credit Local. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University and a Master of International Affairs with a focus on Finance and Business from Columbia University.
Rabobank will continue its successful strategy supporting wind, solar, biomass, and food and agriculture-related project developers with innovative financings under this change in leadership. The change also means that Tony Muoser, Managing Director and Senior Relationship Banker on the team, will be playing a heightened role with respect to client coverage and in determining the group’s strategy.
“We look forward to maintaining the strong momentum and market presence we have built in the Americas, and I know this team, under Gregory’s leadership, will continue to grow the Project Finance business while enhancing Rabobank’s leadership in this critical field,” said Rajiv Singh, CEO, Rabobank North America Wholesale.
