Non-profit religious organization in San Salvador seeks solar donation

The Religious of the Assumption is an international congregation founded in 1839. The organization has grown to 1200 Sisters who respond to the needs in 32 countries around the world through prayer and through the education of girls.

The congregation has been working in El Salvador for the past 126 years. The School of the Assumption, located in Santa Ana, has more than 600 students.

Recently the congregation opened a center in Chalatenango to help those suffering trauma as a result of the civil war.

Driven by the urgent plea of Pope Francis in his encyclical “Our Common Home” where he calls upon each of us to redress the harm we have inflicted on our “common home, Mother Earth” by our irresponsible use and abuse of goods with which God has endowed her,” the congregation wants to reduce its carbon footprint by placing solar panels on the center’s two roofs. The Sisters hope it will serve as a model to the entire local community.

The Religious of the Assumption is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization seeking donated U.S.-made solar modules. Interested companies should contact Sr. Margaret in the U.S. at 415-769-8416 (phone) or Sr. Concepción in Guatamala on Whatsapp at 502-3394-9933.
