LOCKPORT, New York, Nov. 29, 2024 — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County announced a partnership with Everybody Solar to install a 65.10-kilowatt solar array at its Lockport facility.
The array will generate 77,546 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, avoiding 119,431 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.
Niagara offers various services, including 4-H youth development, horticulture education, SNAP nutrition education, digital literacy and agricultural education. The organization is also responsible for the county fair.
“We are thrilled to embrace solar energy as it represents a significant step forward for our organization,” said Justin Roger, executive director of Niagara County CCE. “Not only will this project reduce our electricity expenses year after year, but it will also serve as a powerful educational tool within our clean energy curricula, inspiring both 4-H youth and adults to engage with sustainable practices.”
The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, serve as a model for the community, and provide energy cost savings for Niagara County CCE.
“We are excited to partner with Niagara County CCE to bring solar energy to this community,” said Myriam Scally, executive director of Everybody Solar. “This project not only demonstrates the power of renewable energy but also highlights our commitment to supporting local organizations in their sustainability efforts. Together, we can inspire positive change and promote environmental stewardship.”
The solar installation aligns with Niagara County CCE’s mission to provide accessible, research-based information to grow confident youth and successful farms and gardens for a strong and healthy community.
