New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation Embraces Solar Energy to Strengthen Community Commitment

NEW ORLEANS (April 28th, 2025)—The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting Louisiana’s cultural heritage, is taking a step toward sustainability by installing a 44.8-kilowatt solar array with the help of Everybody Solar.

The new system will generate 49,780 kilowatt hours of clean energy annually, the equivalent of offsetting 64,048 pounds of carbon dioxide, while ensuring more reliable power for its mission-driven programs.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage partnered up for this opportunity with Everybody Solar, a nonprofit dedicated to helping organizations transition to solar energy.

Since 1970, the Foundation has been a driving force in sustaining Louisiana’s cultural legacy, awarding over $3 million annually in grants, operating a tuition-free music school for more than 250 students and producing world-class festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which contributes $500 million to the local economy.

“By investing in solar energy, we’re investing in the future of our community,” said Jonathan Solari, Director of Development at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. “The savings from this project will allow us to expand free programming, protect against rising energy costs and serve as a power backup for unforeseen weather, ensuring our cultural traditions thrive no matter the challenges.”

The solar initiative will redirect cost savings into free public programs, including music education and disaster resilience efforts. The system also offers potential backup power during outages and may contribute excess energy to the local grid.
