What is a renewable portfolio standard?
At their core, renewable portfolio standard –also known as renewable energy standards or RPS – are laws that require a certain percentage of electricity consumption to be generated by renewable resources. Renewable portfolio standards are an example of leveraging long-term policy stability in order to help grow the renewable energy industry locally.
In other words: lasting climate action.
How many states have RPS?
Twenty-nine states, Washington, D.C., and three territories have adopted an RPS, while eight states and one territory have set renewable energy goals.
