Energy storage leader Sunverge Energy has been named to the Global Cleantech 100 list for 2017, marking the second consecutive year the company has been recognized for its innovative contributions that advance the adoption of clean technology. The list, now in its eighth year, honors private cleantech companies that an expert panel judges to be “the most likely to make the most significant market impact” over the coming decade.

“We’re honored once again that our innovative technology and our strength as a company have been recognized with a place on the prestigious Cleantech 100,” said Ken Munson, co-founder and CEO of Sunverge Energy. “Over the past year we’ve been on a steady growth path, and we have seen our platform employed by utilities around the world to reduce costs and manage distributed energy resources through the creation of ever-larger virtual power plants.”

Sunverge earned its place on the list after a field of 9,900 companies from around the world had been scored and narrowed to 325 top contenders. Those companies were then evaluated by 86 expert panelists from public cleantech corporations and related industry veterans. The winners were chosen for their high degree of innovation as well as their market potential and their ability to execute on their strategy.

To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
